Outdoor Accent Lighting
Anyone who has a beautiful yard that they spent hundreds of dollars to landscape needs to show it off completely. The same is true for anyone who has a beautiful home who would like everyone to see it even after night has fallen. One of the best ways to do this is to use outdoor accent lights.
These are designed specifically to shine directly on the area that you won’t people to focus on. If you are trying to show off your home then you would place a few of them around the edge of the front portion of it and have them facing up on the home. If you are accenting your garden then you would place these lights in a way that shows off your favorite tree or flowers.
These are similar to flood lights except that they are not as large and are placed inside of the ground and underneath of the thing they are trying to show off. These come in varios shapes, sizes and colors and cost around $50 to $100. You can place them inside of the ground surrounded by bushes or decorative rocks. You can also stake them in the ground and have them facing the object in full view.
When you are setting these lights up you need to find what it is you wish to accent. Try to go around your home after night has fallen and use a flashlight to shine it on trees and other objects to find the best thing to show off.
Each fixture will be placed at the base of the object and angled upwards so that it can shine it in the right way. When using it for trees you want the light to shine under the branches and leaves. If you want you can simply stake it in the ground and people will see the light or you can cover the base of it with rocks or leaves.
There are two different ways in which you are able to use the lights. The first is to do crosslighting. This is when two lights are on either side of the bottom of the object and are facing different directions. The second is to use backlighting. This is when you place the light behind the object to create a silhouette.
