How To Install High Pressure Sodium Lights
High pressure sodium lights are a type of high energy efficient lights that provide homes and businesses with the best type of security lighting. These are some of the most intense lights that are used to shine brightly on some of the darker areas around the home. Installing them is easy to do because of the ballast that they come with.
First you need to decide where these lights should be placed in order for them to work the best. Most people prefer to use it along the sides and back where it is the darkest. Be careful though because some neighbors might be unhappy with the amount of light coming through their windows if you are close to them.
Turn the electricity to this area off so that you will not electrocute yourself when installing it. It is easier to install this in place of an existing fixture. Make sure that you disconnect the old light and put it aside. If you want to connect it to a pole or an area that has never had a fixture than you will have to pay an electrician come and install it for you.
Connect the wires from the new fixture to all of the like colored wires and secure them with plastic connectors. Now secure the new fixture using the necessary screws and screwdrivers. Make sure not to cross or crimp any wires while you are doing this.
Put on gloves when you are ready to insert the high pressure sodium light bulb. The oils on your skin could possibly damage the light bulb or cause it to burn out quickly. Reconnect the electricity running to it and make sure that it is working properly.
