How To Hang Outdoor String Lights
Outdoor string lights are great to use around the house during the holidays. Christmas lights are the most common type that come available in a variety of colors that hang from the edge of the roof. You can also find some to match the colors of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and even the Fourth of July.
These come in various shapes and sizes and are able to be purchased at most home department and even grocery stores. Hanging them each year seems like hard work – but when you do it right this process will take no time at all. Purchase them in multiple colors or white for a very reasonable price. Most boxes of these string lights will cost around $5 to $10.
Before you start to hang them up you need to test each strand. To do this simply plug them into the outlet that you are going to use for them. People who do not have outdoor outlets can purchase an outdoor power box – which can be easily staked into the ground and will plug into the basement through the window.
After removing the gutter clips from the package, place a good amount into your pocket so that you will be able to grab hold if it easily when you need it. Purchase or borrow a tall ladder that is stable. This will allow you to access the gutters safely. Make sure that someone is at the base to hold it steady for you.
Attach the gutter clips at the end of the gutter and place each of them six inches apart. Pull back the tab that is on the gutter clip. This is designed to keep the lights in one place before dropping the strand into the clip. Be careful to not break the clip or else the gutter might fall.
